Vedra Augenstein, MD, FACS attended medical school and performed her surgical residency at the University of Louisville. She performed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at the Carolinas Medical Center.
Dr. Augenstein is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Associate Fellowship Director for the Division of Minimally Invasive and Gastrointestinal Surgery. She is an assistant Clinical Professor at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Her research and clinical interests include hernia, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, foregut surgery, robotics and resident and fellow education. She is currently the co-chair of the education committee for Americas Hernia Society and SAGES. Her scientific investigation has earned awards from the Association for Academic Surgery, Southeastern Surgical Congress, the European Hernia Society, Americas Hernia Society, American College of Surgeons, and SAGES.
