Seth Carmody, Ph.D., is the Cybersecurity Program Manager in the Office of the Center Director, Emergency Preparedness/Operations & Medical Countermeasures, within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). Dr. Carmody is a subject matter and policy expert who co-chairs CDRH’s Cybersecurity Working Group, an interdisciplinary team responsible for the FDA’s final pre- and post- market cybersecurity guidance documents. In 2011, he joined CDRH as a medical device reviewer in the Division of Chemistry and Toxicology Devices where his duties focused on premarket approval of diabetes-centric devices and software recalls. Dr. Carmody holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Indiana University, a M.S. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.S. from Ithaca College.
