Joseph C. Alvarnas, M.D., is Vice President of Government Affairs and the Senior Medical Director for Employer Strategy, Director of Value Based Analytics and an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Alvarnas earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. His postgraduate training included a residency in internal medicine and fellowships Hematology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation at Stanford University Medical Center.

Dr. Alvarnas is the Chair of the American Society of Hematology Committee on Practice. He has previously served as a member of the National Quality Forum Cancer Endorsement Maintenance Steering Committee. He formerly co-chaired the National Comprehensive Cancer Networks Practice Guidelines Committee on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is the current editor-in-chief for Evidence Based Oncology.
