Gretel H. Schueller joined U.S. News this spring as senior health editor, where she edits health content and manages the nutrition and fitness blog Eat + Run. She’s been writing and editing stories about science and health for over 20 years. Her stories have been published in Discover, Eating Well, Scientific American, New Scientist and many other national publications. She’s written about a broad range of health topics – from advances in robotic surgery to perinatal mortality among the Roma population to evidence for the benefits of acupuncture. She’s also worked as an editor at several publications, including Audubon and Eating Well magazines.

Gretel has a master’s degree in journalism from New York University’s Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program. She was a James Beard Award finalist in the category of food and health for a piece she wrote about the gut microbiome.
